This project was part of a key shelter intervention in Syria by UNHCR, the purpose of which was threefold: the rehabilitation of collective shelters, the provision of family shelter kits to IDP families living in informal shelters and the construction of family units.
Included in the project were additional measures to protect the IDPs from the severe winter weather, including covering the exterior walls with plastic sheets (tarpaulin) and providing thick curtains over the windows.
