TBHF launches ‘Kiswat Eid’ drive to support children of UAE’s affected families

Sharjah-based global humanitarian organization, The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), has made a call to corporate entities and individuals to donate to its Kiswat Eid drive, that runs from July 24 – 30, which has been designed to ensure that children of families affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and low-income families in the UAE celebrate the occasion.
The Kiswat Eid 2020 drive signals the start of the second phase of TBHF’s COVID-19 response campaign ‘Support Knows No Safe Distance’, which was launched this April by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of The Big Heart Foundation and UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, as a global call for action to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable groups from the devastating impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic, in the UAE as well as in other nations .

Illuminate the lives of 1,500 children this Eid

The TBHF initiative is an opportunity to celebrate Eid’s spirit of compassion and to share kindness with 1,500 children who will benefit from charitable contributions. Each donation of AED 200 will translate into a gift card for a child in need, which will provide her/him a brand new set of clothes. Donors may purchase as many of these gift cards as they desire for the young beneficiaries of this drive.

Mariam Al Hammadi, Director of TBHF, said: “Eid Al Adha is an occasion for spreading happiness through giving. One of the best ways to do so is by embracing those who are less fortunate and celebrating our charitable spirit. The intent behind TBHF’s Kiswat Eid 2020 drive is to ensure that children, whose guardians were affected by the pandemic, are able to experience the festive joy of Eid by partaking in its tradition of wearing new clothes. We thank, in advance, all the generous souls whose timely action and big hearts will ensure a happy Eid for these children.”

Phase I of ‘Support Knows No Safe Distance’ has garnered support from charitable donors worldwide to boost healthcare capacities of five high-risk nations – Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Bangladesh and Kenya, as well as supporting affected families in the UAE. 500,000 US$ were allocated to TBHF’s international partners who have begun implementing vital projects that address the most pressing protection, lifesaving and integration needs of refugees and displaced populations across these five countries., In the UAE, TBHF, provided food supplies to 660 families and 1,400 individuals who have been affected directly or indirectly by the spread of COVID-19.
