The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) has signed an agreement with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) in Jordan to provide essential medical care and treatment for eight cancer patients.

The eight cancer patients will be treated at the King Hussein Cancer Foundation in Jordan with all costs being covered by TBHF. The King Hussein Cancer Foundation in Jordan provides state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer care to the people of Jordan and the Middle East region. It also offers access to education, training, and public awareness aimed at early detection and prevention of cancer. Its other functions include supplying access to research in order to decrease mortality and alleviate suffering from cancer with the highest ethical standards and quality of care.

Mariam al Hammadi, Director of “Salam Ya Seghar”, a TBHF initiative said, “We are very pleased to undertake this initiative and provide cancer treatment for these patients with such an eminent medical provider as the King Hussein Cancer Foundation. We know that these patients will get the very best of care. Under the directions of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, TBHF seeks to alleviate the suffering of cancer patients, offering help, support and most importantly hope. It is Her Highness’ greatest wish to ensure all those who need access to cancer care and treatment are able to receive it.”

In May this year Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi launched the International Childhood Cancer Fund to support children with cancer worldwide and donated $1 million to its cause. The fund aims to help save the lives of 30,000 children in poor and middle-income countries and was launched in cooperation with the UICC’s International Childhood Cancer Fund, through “Salam Ya Seghar” campaign, an affiliate of the Big Heart Foundation.

Mariam al Hammadi added “Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi believes that inequitable access to treatment care is a fundamental right of all people and despite the difficult times people in countries such as Palestine and Syria are undergoing, they have a right to decent healthcare, this is a human right and social justice issue.”

Established by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, TBHF is dedicated to helping refugees and people in need worldwide.

The Big Heart Foundation was recently transformed from being a campaign in order ensure the sustainability and growth of its initiatives. The Big Heart Campaign was first established in 2013 and sought to relive the suffering of Syrian refugees in imminent crisis. During 2013 to 2014 the Big Heart Campaign provided healthcare services to 106,000 Syrian refugees in Iraq; 150,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan; 10,000 refugees in Lebanon and the campaign provided 338,700 children and elderly people with relief aid with over AED 36 million being made available for the projects.
