The Big Heart Foundation has offered wide-ranging support to over 500,000 people in need in nearly ten countries.
The Education sector aims to identify and fill educational gaps within vulnerable communities. Efforts to respond to the identified gaps include building schools, providing scholarships, teachers capacity building, and improving access to education. Other programs also focus on developing the quality of education through enhancing the educational level of children using a holistic approach.
The Livelihood sector focuses on supporting sustainable assistance through multiple elements such as capacity building programs, job creation, cash assistance, etc. The programs predominantly aim to provide people the capacity to achieve sustainable economic self-sustenance and development.
The Emergency Relief sector focuses on natural and man-made disaster situations. The sector supports affected populations across multiple segments including protection, healthcare, and food assistance. In addition to emergency responses, the sector also supports emergency mitigation, preparedness, and recovery efforts. Examples of Emergency Relief programs include Covid-19 relief assistance for vulnerable populations.
The healthcare sector focuses on multiple dimensions of individuals’ health and well-being. The sector supports vulnerable populations suffering from poor healthcare, lack of capacity to provide healthcare services, etc. Programs which are under the healthcare sector generally focus on building and rehabilitating hospitals and healthcare centers, capacity building for staff, provision of medicine and other health basic needs, advocacy and promotion of health and well-being agendas, etc.
The protection sector focuses on advocating for and supporting programs that prevent and reduce exposure to violence, exploitation, and abuse. The sector supports holistic interventions that aim to uphold the basic rights of children and communities at risk. Initiatives under the protection sector include various refugee support programs, child protection programs, shelter provision, and mental health and psychosocial support programs among others.
